Shelby has used her passion for helping others to carve her way through the industry, and has now been spray tanning for seven years.
She took the time to share with us her friendly spirit and growing success.
Why do you love what you do?
I just love making people feel better, I think that's what I was born to do. I want to make someone smile that is going through a hard time, and seeing people feel beautiful really makes the job great. I'm even going to start organic waxing soon; you never know what you'll like doing next!
Where do you find inspiration?
From my clients. After they leave me, I see their face light up and feel beautiful again, and that's what keeps me going. I deal with everyone, from those with skin cancer like my mom, to those who have lost someone, and people even contact me after to tell me how much it meant to them.
Where are you now?
I just opened my own studio in Mentor, and was recently featured on Cleveland Hustles, which was a huge blessing. I want to get out there that spray tanning is healthy and everyone is welcome. These organic products moisturize the skin rather than damaging it.
Do you have advice for aspiring artists?
You almost have to hit rock bottom to know you're not going to give up, but you have to just keep going and not let anyone stop you. I've been up and down, but I finally got so busy that I had to open my own studio.
