Carrie Bellus - 2000 Brown Aveda Graduate, Stylist, and Purefessional

After graduating from Brown Aveda Institute, Carrie Bellus took her talents on the road, traveling as an Aveda Cut & Style Purefessional and Lead Educator before settling into the VIDA Salon in Denver, Colorado.

We caught up with Carrie to ask about her artistic passion, experience, and success.

Why do you love what you do?

I love connecting with people. As a stylist working behind the chair, I get to be a part of of somebody's life. Through teaching, I recognized right away that the more I helped somebody understand something, the better hairstylist I became. I love seeing the lightbulbs go off and helping them through a journey I struggled with myself.

What makes an artist successful?

First and foremost I think humility, being able to be humble through the learning process. And if you ever become closed minded to it, there's a definite end to your growth, so always being open to learning. And just having passion for what you do; if you're not in love with what you do, then I can't imagine doing it.

How did your Aveda experience impact where you are now?

I knew that I wanted to be an Aveda artist before I even knew I wanted to be a hairstylist. They raise the bar in their quality of stylists, work, product, and their mission, so I knew right away that I wanted to be a part of that . . . If it wasn't for meeting the mentors I did at Ladies and Gentlemen Salon, I can't imagine that I would have the career that I do.

Be sure to check out Carrie's Facebook or Instagram page, and stop in at the VIDA Salon for a fabulous cut and style from Carrie herself.
